A 40-year-old man was seriously injured when his small boat was struck by a whale's tail near the Queensland-NSW border. The man was knocked unconscious during the incident but remained in his boat, and was later brought to shore, treated for facial and spinal injuries, and is now in stable condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital. The Queensland Police emphasised the importance of wearing life jackets while boating.
