Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo announces birth of endangered squirrel monkey Pesto on July 13th.
The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska announced the birth of a rare squirrel monkey named Pesto on July 13th. Pesto is the first child of first-time mom Basil (7 years old) and 16-year-old father Geordi. Squirrel monkeys, native to Central and South America, are an endangered species due to habitat loss from deforestation. The newborn spends most of its time exploring its habitat by hanging on Basil's back.
