8 lions were saved in a week by alert loco pilots in the Bhavnagar division of Western Railway, bringing the total to 42 since April. The Savarkundla and Liliya range of Gir East and Shetrunji forest divisions are identified as high-risk areas for wildlife fatalities due to train collisions, mainly from goods trains connecting to Pipavav port. Loco pilots are following guidelines on speed limits and driving with caution to prevent accidents.
