Berlin Zoo's Meng Meng, a German-born giant panda, is expecting twin cubs in late August.
Berlin Zoo's Meng Meng, a German-born giant panda, is pregnant with twins, following the birth of the first-ever German-born giant panda cubs, Pit and Paule, who were sent to China. Meng Meng and her mate, Jiao Qing, part of China's "panda diplomacy" program, have around 1,800 wild cousins in China and a few hundred in captivity globally. Female pandas have a 72-hour fertile window annually. The zoo expects the twins in late August, assuming all goes well.
