Austria suffered major flooding from record rainfall in Alpine regions and parts of Vienna, causing significant damage, disruptions to road and rail transport, and traffic chaos. The heavy rains left parts of Vienna underwater and forced fire services to attend over 450 calls for assistance. One woman was critically injured in Vienna's Doebling area after being dragged under a bus by the floodwaters. Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer thanked officials for their efforts to clear up the damage.
