Almonte General Hospital's emergency department closed overnight due to nursing staff shortage.

Almonte General Hospital's emergency department was temporarily closed overnight on Saturday due to a shortage of nursing staff, affecting rural hospitals in Ontario and elsewhere. With just one physician and two nurses on each shift, the absence of one staff member impeded proper care provision. Emergency cases were advised to call 9-1-1 for paramedic assistance to the nearest available emergency department.
