12-year-old Hawk, Canada's first victim assistance dog, passed away three years after retirement.

Hawk, Calgary's first victim assistance dog, passed away at 12 years old, three years after retiring from service. The black Labrador was the first in Canada to support courtroom victims during trials. Hawk served on the Calgary police victim assistance response team from 2013, helping children and adults in challenging situations, and was honored with the "animal hero" award in 2021.
