22-year-old Drew Romo called up by Colorado Rockies for Major League debut, replaces veteran catcher Elías Díaz.
22-year-old catcher Drew Romo, drafted 35th overall in 2020, has been called up by the Colorado Rockies to make his Major League debut. Romo has had an impressive season with Triple-A Albuquerque, posting a .297/.339/.499 slash line and hitting 14 home runs in 85 games. The Rockies released veteran catcher Elías Díaz, who has been with the team for nearly five years, and replaced him with rookie Drew Romo for a six-week trial period to show he is the team's future in the position.
