34-year-old Bonginkosi Khanyile, a former MK Party youth leader, was arrested by South Africa's Hawks for allegedly inciting violence and contravening the Riotous Assemblies Act. Khanyile, who was previously fined for incitement, made public announcements encouraging citizens to protest and commit acts of violence if his preferred political party wasn't on the ballot and referenced July 2021 looting incidents. He faces charges for both the July 2021 events and the current case, and is set to reappear in court on September 23, 2024.
