9th US Circuit Court reverses lower court decision, allowing SE Alaska salmon trollers' operations to continue.

9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Southeast Alaska salmon trollers, overturning a lower court decision that could have halted their operations. The lawsuit, brought by environmental group Wild Fish Conservancy, claimed that management practices were harming wild salmon populations and argued that National Marine Fisheries Service rules were inadequate for protecting endangered killer whales. The appeals court's decision allows the troll fishery to continue while the National Marine Fisheries Service works on a new biological opinion.
