Senegal's first satellite, GAINDESAT-1A, was launched into orbit on October 16th, marking progress towards the country's technological sovereignty. The satellite, developed by Senegalese engineers in partnership with France's Montpellier University Space Centre, will provide data for state agencies like DGPRE and the National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency. The launch took place at 18:56 GMT from the Vandenberg base in California.
