2023 saw a 6.9% decrease in violent crime across Minnesota, with a 3.4% decline in greater Minnesota and an 8.2% drop in the Twin Cities Metro Area. Motor vehicle theft and carjacking incidents also dropped significantly. However, bias crimes increased to 180 incidents, and assaults against peace officers slightly increased, with 961 incidents reported. The complete report is available on the BCA website.
