Mexican lawmakers submitted a judicial reform plan to Congress, including the election of all judges, including Supreme Court justices, by popular vote starting in 2025. The plan has undergone over 100 revisions and requires a two-thirds majority approval in both the lower house and Senate after clearing the constitutional committee. Critics fear the reform could undermine Mexico's checks and balances.
