In July, Cumbria Police received £1m for Operation Enhance, a crackdown on serious violence and antisocial behavior in hotspots across the county. The extra 261 hours of patrols led to 49 stop searches and 12 arrests. Hotspot areas include Carlisle, Barrow, Workington, Whitehaven, Kendal, Penrith, Maryport, Cleator Moor, Ulverston, and Bowness-on-Windermere, targeting issues like arson, robbery, and violence, including sexual assaults.
