China's marine environment cleanup and coral reef restoration efforts show improvements; the government plans 90% coral protection by 2030.

China's marine environment cleanup and coral reef restoration efforts have shown positive results, with improvements in coastal wetlands and reduced land-based pollution. The government's 14th Five-Year Plan includes marine biodiversity as a key component, focusing on coral reefs covering 38,000 square kilometers. China has established several coral reef reserves, launched a 10-year plan in 2019 to protect and revive coral reefs in the South China Sea, and aims to protect 90% of its coral by 2030.
