Bihar's Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge collapsed for the third time, prompting a Supreme Court petition for a statewide structural audit.

A section of the under-construction Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge in Bihar collapsed for the third time into the Ganga River on June 5, raising concerns about the quality of construction and project alignment. The bridge has been under construction for nearly nine years with a budget of Rs 1,710 crore. The Bihar government has faced criticism for the bridge's repeated failures and delays, despite the significant investment. This latest collapse follows several other bridge collapses in the state and has led to a petition in the Supreme Court, asking the Bihar government to respond to the multiple bridge collapse incidents and conduct a high-level structural audit of all existing and under-construction bridges in the state.
