A stray cat in Frederick County, MD tested positive for rabies after attacking two people. The 1-year-old female domestic short-haired cat, with dark gray fur and white markings, was found in the 3000 block of Garfield Road. Those who had contact with the cat from July 31st to August 14th are advised to consult healthcare providers and notify FCHD at 301-600-3342. The rabies virus, spread through saliva, causes severe symptoms and is fatal to humans if not treated. This brings Frederick County's total number of rabies cases in 2023 to 32.
