Union Minister highlights India's progress in energy sector with increased refining capacity, gas connections, ethanol blending, and natural gas pipeline network expansion.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlights substantial progress in India's energy sector over the past decade, including a significant increase in piped gas connections, a rise in refining capacity, and expanded natural gas pipeline networks. India's refining capacity has grown to 256.8 MMTPA from 215 MMTPA in 2014. Ethanol blending in petrol has increased to 15% in 2024 from 1.53% in 2014, and there are now over 32.73 crore active LPG connections, up from 14.52 crore in 2014. The natural gas pipeline network expanded from 15,000 km in 2014 to 24,881 km in 2024. This progress has contributed to India's energy independence, affordability, and sustainability, and has insulated the country from rising global fuel prices.
