South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster signed a new child luring law on Thursday, criminalizing the persuasion of a person under 18 to leave their home and punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The law also protects human trafficking victims under 18 by preventing them from being prosecuted for conduct related to their trafficking situation and allows survivors to expunge non-violent offense records resulting from their trafficking.
