Physicists led by URI Professor Vanita Srinivasa have proposed a modular system for scaling quantum processors, enabling long-distance qubit linkage and entangling operations. Their approach, outlined in PRX Quantum, uses oscillating voltages to generate extra frequencies for each qubit, allowing multiple qubits to be linked without frequency matching. This flexibility preserves the distinct frequency needed for individual qubit control, opening the pathway to scalable semiconductor-based quantum information processing.
