A man died on Highway 101 near Gaviota, CA after being struck by a passing vehicle while trying to enter a parked car on the shoulder. Bystanders, including a cardiologist and two electrical linemen with an AED device, attempted to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The southbound lane remains closed as the California Highway Patrol investigates the incident.
