Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council approves granting proprietary rights to displaced persons and West Pakistan Refugees on evacuee land.

The Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council, chaired by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, approved conferring proprietary rights on evacuee land to displaced persons (DPs) and West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) from 1947, 1965, and 1971 conflicts. This move grants absolute ownership over evacuee land, similar to state land rights. The land transfer process adheres to the 1954 Cabinet Order and the J&K Agrarian Reforms Act, 1976. The decision addresses decades-long demands for ownership rights from displaced families.
