Indian government launched Krishi-DSS, a satellite-based platform providing real-time crop data and disaster warnings, on August 16, 2024.

The Indian government launched the Krishi-Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS) on August 16, 2024. The satellite-based platform provides real-time data on crop conditions, weather patterns, water resources, and soil health, aiding farmers with crucial information for crop management and productivity enhancement. Utilizing satellite imagery, Krishi-DSS also offers early warnings for potential disasters such as pest attacks and extreme weather events, and helps with crop mapping, monitoring, and promoting crop rotation and diversification. The system was developed using technology similar to the Gati Shakti initiative and is aimed at expanding the use of remote sensing across more crop varieties.
