Google Pixel smartphones vulnerable due to pre-loaded app Showcase, allowing remote code execution and control.

Mobile security firm iVerify discovered a vulnerability in Google's Pixel smartphones due to a pre-loaded app called Showcase, putting millions of devices at risk of remote code execution, remote app installation, and control by malicious parties. The app, created by software company Smith Micro for Verizon, has been present in Pixel releases since September 2017. Google plans to remove the Showcase app in a software update, following the disclosure of the vulnerability in May.
