Conservative activist Leonard Leo joins a federal lawsuit against Planned Parenthood in Texas, alleging $17m fraud and seeking $1.8bn in penalties under the False Claims Act.

Conservative activist Leonard Leo, linked to overturning Roe v. Wade, is involved in a federal lawsuit against Planned Parenthood in Texas. The lawsuit, filed by an anonymous whistleblower and joined by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, alleges Planned Parenthood defrauded Texas and Louisiana Medicaid programs of $17m through fraudulent claims, and seeks $1.8bn in penalties. The suit claims violations of the False Claims Act, and aims to limit access to reproductive health and family planning services. Planned Parenthood clinics involved do not provide abortions, as Texas and Louisiana have banned nearly all abortions in recent years.
