Carbon Mapper Coalition launches first methane-tracking satellite, Tanager-1, aboard SpaceX's Transporter-11 Rideshare mission.

Carbon Mapper Coalition, aided by NASA technology, is launching its first methane-tracking satellite, Tanager-1, aboard SpaceX's Transporter-11 Rideshare mission. The satellite, which can detect methane leaks from individual facilities, is part of the coalition's plan to launch additional satellites to track up to 90% of global methane plumes daily. Methane emissions are crucial to address climate change, as methane is more potent than CO2 in its first 20 years in the atmosphere.
