Burkina Faso's government, led by President Ibrahim Traore, established the Burkini Atomic Energy Agency (BAAE) to achieve energy independence, promote industrialization, and enhance access to electricity. The government recently adopted a bill granting privileges and immunities to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts and officials during the construction of a planned nuclear power plant set to be operational by 2030, aiming to meet rising electricity demand.
