62-year-old David Taylor, a prisoner at HMP Frankland, has been charged with attempted murder after stabbing a Greater Manchester Police detective constable on July 23. The officer, who sustained critical injuries, has since been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home. Taylor is set to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on September 3. HMP Frankland, a high-security men's prison, houses some of the country's most serious criminals.
