Thomson, Georgia Mayor Benjamin Cary Cranford, 52, was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) on charges of providing inmates with alcohol while they worked in the city. The alleged incident occurred on June 4, and a warrant for the mayor's arrest was issued. Cranford was booked into the McDuffie County Jail and charged with furnishing prohibited items to inmates and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
