Former San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Deputy Joshua Fischer, 42, has been sentenced to seven months in federal prison for physically abusing an inmate in 2018. He admitted to dragging the woman by her hair and throwing her into another cell, and pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of deprivation of rights under color of law. Fischer's employment with the department was terminated before charges were filed, and as part of his plea agreement, he cannot seek future employment in law enforcement.
