Victorian government launches first of 23 new VLocity trains for regional V/Line fleet, targeting Geelong and Bacchus Marsh corridors.
The Victorian government has launched the first of 23 new VLocity trains for its regional V/Line fleet, addressing growing demand and improving reliability on the network. The $219m investment targets the Geelong and Bacchus Marsh corridors, with nine-car services set to increase Melton line capacity by 50%. Despite concerns from the Border Rail Action Group, the North East line will not benefit from these new trains built to broad gauge, incompatible with the standard gauge line.
