1st known case of Chronic Wasting Disease confirmed in a white-tailed deer in Boundary County, North Idaho.
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) has been confirmed in a white-tailed deer in Boundary County, North Idaho, marking the first known case in the region. Idaho Fish and Game is prioritizing detecting and minimizing potential spread, asking hunters to have any deer and elk hunted in North Idaho tested for the disease, and reporting any roadkill elk or deer along certain highways or deer or elk exhibiting unusual behavior in the area. The US CDC reports no cases of CWD infecting humans, but recommends not consuming meat from an animal that tests positive for the disease.
