1948 Beechcraft Bonanza crashed into Mount Crillon in Alaska's Glacier Bay National Park, 345 feet below a ridge.

A preliminary report from the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) found that a July plane crash in Alaska's Glacier Bay National Park occurred when the aircraft was a few hundred feet below a high ridge, striking the mountainside. The 1948 Beechcraft Bonanza, en route from Juneau to Yakutat, crashed into Mount Crillon in the Fairweather Range, with the plane's tracking signal stopping at 10,875 feet, 345 feet below the ridge's top. The wreckage was found at 6,200 feet, over 4,500 feet from the initially believed crash site. A more detailed report, including possible causes, is expected next year.
