Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma warned of a security threat to the state due to the fast decline of the Hindu-Muslim population balance, with Muslims now making up 41% of Assam's population in 2021, up from 34.24% in 2011. Sarma urged all communities to follow family planning norms and be aware against polygamy.
