70-year-old Caroline Leafe and her husband were injured when a rotting tree fell on them during a walk in Ashdown Forest. The Conservators of Ashdown Forest, responsible for managing the area, were fined £8,000 by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the incident, as they failed to identify risks and implement necessary safety precautions. Leafe suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures.
