U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards $104M contract to Callan Marine for deepening Brazos Island Harbor Ship Channel in South Texas.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has awarded a $104M contract to Galveston-based dredging contractor, Callan Marine, for deepening the Brazos Island Harbor (BIH) Ship Channel in South Texas in partnership with the Port of Brownsville. The project aims to deepen a 13-mile stretch by 10 feet, bringing the authorized depth to 52 feet, set to begin in Oct 2024 and complete by Jun 2026. This dredging project is part of the port's ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and support sustainable growth for diverse industries, and remain a critical player in the global supply chain.
