Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC) reports an oil spill in Imiringi community, Bayelsa State, confirmed to be caused by oil thieves. A Joint Investigative Visit (JIV) determined the cause and SPDC is working on cleanup, remediation, and repair efforts. The 3-barrel spill has been fully recovered, but some residue remains. Environmental Defenders Network has called for clean-up and prevention of third-party spills.
