Montana FWP lifts hoot-owl fishing restrictions on some rivers due to cooler temperatures.
Montana FWP has lifted hoot-owl restrictions on several rivers due to cooler temperatures, allowing fishing from 2pm to midnight resumes on the Madison, Clark Fork, St. Regis, Upper Bitterroot, Rock Creek, and Blackfoot rivers. Restrictions remain on some sections of the Bitterroot River, Clark Fork River, and Silver Bow Creek due to persistently high temperatures. Hoot-owl restrictions protect fish from stress and disease during low-flow and high-temperature conditions.
