Jasper schools damaged by wildfire may not reopen for September, with students temporarily relocated to Hinton and Edson schools.

Jasper, Alberta schools are being cleaned and repaired after wildfire damages, but may not be ready for September's school year start. As an alternative, students will be temporarily sent to schools in nearby Hinton and Edson, with transportation and mental health support provided. Alberta Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides is working with school authorities to reopen the schools as quickly as possible. Edmonton Public Schools is also offering spaces for displaced Jasper students, with families able to contact the Division Support Services Centre for Education to enroll their children before the school year begins.
