21-year-old Marine Corporal Spencer R. Collart, who died during a fiery Osprey crash in Australia last year, will be posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the service's highest noncombat honor. Collart escaped the aircraft but re-entered the burning cockpit to attempt to rescue the trapped pilots. The award recognizes acts of heroism at great risk to the servicemember's life.
