Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom to expand with a Cars-themed area and villain-themed land, beginning construction next year.
Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom will replace its Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island with new Cars-themed attractions, as part of its largest expansion since opening in 1971. The transformation includes a rugged terrain for a new race car attraction, a family attraction, and climbing trails. The villain-themed land, featuring two major attractions, shopping, and dining, will be situated nearby. Construction is set to begin next year.
