The UK government plans to invest up to £800 million in modernizing rural internet infrastructure to improve broadband for 312,000 homes and businesses across England, Scotland, and Wales by 2030. This initiative, known as Project Gigabit, aims to boost productivity, economic growth, and competitiveness, as well as bridge the digital divide. The government has signed contracts worth £288 million for the first stage, which will connect approximately 96,600 homes and businesses in England and Wales, with plans to connect an additional 215,800 premises in the coming months.
