Stutz Packing Company's walnut recall in California upgraded to Class I due to potential Listeria contamination in 1-pound packages; no illnesses reported.
US FDA upgrades California-based Stutz Packing Company's walnut recall to Class I, the most severe category, due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes in 1-pound packages of shelled walnuts. The walnuts were distributed to food bank warehouses in Arizona and Texas. Stutz has halted production and distribution and is working with the FDA to investigate the contamination. No other walnut products are affected, and no illnesses have been reported.
