Fort Worth Police Sergeant Billy Randolph was killed on Monday morning after being hit by a vehicle while assisting at a fuel spill clean-up on Interstate 35W. Randolph, a 29-year veteran, was outside his vehicle when the vehicle driving through the accident scene struck him. The driver is in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Randolph's death brings the total number of U.S. police officers who have died this year to 88, including nine officers in Texas.
