2,380 lbs of meth, third largest US national seizure in 2024, found in celery load at Atlanta market by DEA, linked to Mexican cartel.
2,380 pounds of methamphetamine, the largest-ever seizure in Atlanta and the third largest nationwide in 2024, was discovered by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) hidden in a load of celery at the Atlanta State Farmers Market. The drugs, smuggled across the border by a Mexican cartel, have an estimated wholesale value of over $3 million. The DEA has not yet tested the meth for any fentanyl contamination, but it is unlikely, according to DEA Atlanta Special Agent in Charge, Robert Murphy.
