Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) declared justified the use of force by a dog handler during the arrest of a suspected burglar in Hastings on 20 September 2023. The man, reported to carry weapons, refused to leave a resident's home and wrestled with a police dog before three officers subdued him. The use of force, including a kick to the head, was deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the community and police staff.
