Increased summer demand led to fully-booked sailings between Vancouver Island and mainland BC without vehicle reservations.
Due to increased demand, particularly on Mondays and Thursdays during summer, B.C. Ferries passengers faced multiple-sailing waits, with all sailings between Vancouver Island and the mainland being fully booked for those without vehicle reservations. Spokesperson Jeff Groot cited the days as being just before and after weekends, with 2024 predicted to be another record-setting year for total passengers, and new vessels with increased capacity planned for the future.
