2 Canadian navy ships join a 7-week US-led anti-drug mission in the eastern Pacific.

2 Canadian navy ships, HMCS Edmonton and HMCS Yellowknife, are embarking on a 7-week mission in the eastern Pacific Ocean as part of Operation Caribbe, a US-led effort to intercept and disrupt drug trafficking from South America to the Caribbean and North America. This operation, which began in 2006, involves collaboration with other nations and maritime patrol aircraft. Canadian crews work alongside US Coast Guard Tactical Law Enforcement Team members to intercept vessels of interest, with HMCS Edmonton seizing 755 kg of cocaine in April 2023.
