Zambia temporarily closed its border with DRC over trade dispute, affecting copper exports.

Zambia temporarily closed its border with DRC, affecting copper exports, following Congo's ban on imported soft drinks and beer. Zambian Trade Minister Chipoka Mulenga cited demonstrations by Congolese transporters at the border as a reason for the closure. Congo's Trade Minister Julien Paluku Kahongya stated that no formal notice of a trade dispute had been received before the closure. Both countries are currently discussing the issue via videoconference, with plans for an in-person meeting to reach a lasting solution.
