UAE issues law amending employment regulations, imposing up to Dh1 million fines for labor law violations.

The UAE government has issued a new law amending the Federal Decree-Law on the Regulation of Employment Relationships, imposing fines of up to Dh1 million for employers who violate labour laws, including employing workers without permits, misusing work permits, or closing businesses without settling workers' rights. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation can settle cases before a court sentence is issued, provided the employer pays at least 50% of the minimum specified fine and reimburses the government for financial incentives obtained by fake employees. The new decree aims to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of the UAE's labour market.
